Day 2 Gangtok

A Buddhist wedding!

overcast 18 °C

When we arrived yesterday evening our host Sonam asked what we doing today and “insisted” we attend her brother in law’s wedding today. Not only that but we were to wear what turned out to be her husband and her traditional wedding dress! This was an amazing and surprising experience. We were welcomed like we were members of the family. The whole event lasted from 10:00 until mid afternoon with intermittent eating and drinking including local fermented millet alcohol drinks, kingfisher, Bacardi coolers and the most delicious local cuisine. The day ended with a visit to the laundry to rid our clothes of the debris of IRCTC travel, etc. On time the rain began at 4:00, and us taking a couple of cold brews before retiring to blog.
